6 Weird Questions from YouPoundit Customer Support Chat

If you’ve spent enough time browsing around on YouPoundit, you’ve probably encountered this little pop-up in the lower-right corner of your screen:

That’s our little chat support box there, and we’ve originally put it there so you can ask us any questions about the gadgets available on our site.

However, some of our customers took the “Ask us anything” a bit too literally. Here’s a sampler of the weirdest questions we’ve gotten from that chat box, plus some commentary from Kristian, YouPoundit's founder and CEO:

Are you a bot?

This happens on a daily basis because of the prompt. However, it’s only the prompt that’s automatic—it’s only once you chat that the chat box opens on our end. The things we get range from racial slurs to the other questions below. But for most customers, they love the interaction and the realization that it's not a Simsimi-like app.

Can you help me with my homework?

This goes to show that there are some kids who venture to our site to check out our stuff. Not just kids per se, but college students who are just bored or whatnot.

What's your name? Do you have a GF?

Frankly, this is just a misguided question. It’s an attempt in getting to know each other that goes horribly, horribly wrong. I've had my share of creepers. Trust me, the dark side of the net is really dark.

This is not an adult site, right?

I've encountered about 3 to 5 customers that got misled by the name of the site. They thought that it was an adult site because of the "youp" part. So they ended up either browsing through the site or just going incognito again.


Do you have some "gadgets"?

I get it, there are needs that need to be fulfilled. But then again, it might be just an honest mistake or they're just trying to test if the chat is legit or not.

Can you help me with my life?

These are some of the questions that I honestly don't know if they’re legit or just bored. Well I can agree that some really have issues, I've talked to some who are indeed lost. But being a friend on the other side goes a long, long way.
